The Education Standards Advisory Committee (ESAC) met on April 5, 2021.聽 This meeting聽was聽held聽virtually and included a presentation from the Broker Responsibility Working Group (BRWG) Chair, Leslie Lerner.聽 ESAC and BRWG聽have agreed to聽collaborate to develop recommendations aimed at better informing sales agents and brokers of duties and responsibilities to one another, which may include both education and experience components.聽聽聽

ESAC also heard聽suggestions聽from聽committee聽members on聽topics that聽may be included in the next versions of the Legal Update I & II courses.聽 These suggestions聽will be forwarded聽to the staff and subject matter experts who comprise this year鈥檚 non-elective course writing group.聽 Some of the suggestions聽include appraisal issues聽and backup offers.聽聽聽

The committee revisited the topic of professional designations and possible recommendations to current rule聽搂535.92聽which defines CE requirements for sales agents and brokers.聽 As a result, a聽focused聽working group聽was created聽to delve deeper into this topic and bring forth recommendations at the next full ESAC meeting.聽聽The working group meeting will take place virtually on聽May 17, 2021, at 1:00 pm.聽聽聽

Lastly, ESAC discussed current qualifying course exam proctoring requirements and heard suggestions for revisions proposed by聽one education provider. 聽The聽provider聽suggested alternative means of proctoring that do not include a live or virtual visual component. 聽After discussion, ESAC members agreed that the current requirements should remain in place and no recommendations for change聽will be considered聽at this time.聽聽
