Last week聽we celebrated聽Veterans Day.聽We have聽many license holders who have served our country聽in the military.聽Your sacrifices have not gone unnoticed,聽and聽I am聽grateful for your聽service.聽聽

Thanksgiving will be here before we know it.聽聽I聽hope you enjoy Thanksgiving with friends and family.聽聽I am especially thankful that it seems we can gather more safely this year.聽聽This pandemic has聽lasted聽longer than I ever expected.聽聽I聽see a potential light at the end of the tunnel and look towards the future with hope.聽

This is a very interesting time in real estate.聽聽The market continues to聽be hot聽in many places.聽聽I recently聽read an article from the聽聽indicating that the frenzy may be waning.聽聽The聽Texas Real Estate Research Center is a treasure trove of information.聽聽Another recent article highlights聽the influx of new Texans from other areas of the country, with analysis indicating聽.聽 (Spoiler alert: California.)聽聽 This growth聽is true on the licensing side as well.聽聽We have a record number of real estate license holders in Texas鈥攐ver the last decade, our license holders have grown 30% to more than 218,000 at the end of the fiscal year 2021.聽聽聽

Proposed Rules聽

The Commission聽has聽proposed聽rules for public comment聽at the November meeting.聽One of these proposed rules may聽be of particular interest to brokers and sales agents as it聽proposes聽changes聽to聽the point system used to become a broker.聽聽Amendments聽to聽rule聽搂535.56聽related to聽education and聽experience聽requirements for a聽broker聽license聽incorporates a new point system that is easier to understand. This simplified point system does not聽increase the requirements to obtain a broker鈥檚 license and is intended to聽streamline the broker license application process further.聽These聽amendments聽are based on recommendations made聽by the Broker Responsibility Working聽Group.聽I encourage all of you聽to review these proposed changes and provide feedback聽when the comment period opens.聽聽聽聽

Database Replacement聽

As some of you may know, 星空体育app下载 is currently working towards聽a聽replacement of our licensing database. We are pleased to announce that we have published the Request for Offer (RFO). This RFO is a result of聽the聽tireless work of our team.聽We plan to have an entirely new database in place聽by mid-2023.聽聽

How does this聽affect you?聽聽It will streamline applications, allow for documents to be directly attached to your online application, manage your education,聽and聽allow for significantly more self-service. I聽am excited about this new database and look forward to the day I can tell you it is ready to use!聽

Returning to the Office聽聽

We are shooting to return to the office at the beginning of the New Year.聽We postponed this return this fall when the delta variant caused a surge.聽聽We will continue to watch the numbers and hold these plans to return to the office loosely, depending on what happens over the聽holidays.聽I聽also hope聽to begin welcoming our license聽holders back to聽our physical聽office in January 2022.聽聽聽

In a month in which we focus on thankfulness, I am reminded of how thankful I am to聽work for this Commission.
