Last weekend聽we celebrated聽our country's聽244th聽birthday. I hope each of you found聽a way to celebrate.聽Even in these uncertain times, this is a unique day of patriotic celebration and I hope you enjoyed聽it.聽The year聽2020 has brought unprecedented changes to the market and industry, some of which we are only just beginning to see.听听The Commission聽is working hard to support license holders聽and consumers聽through this unprecedented time.聽

Public Comment Period聽

As Chair of the Commission, I have made it my mission to increase participation in the rulemaking process.听听After Commission聽meetings,聽proposed聽rules聽are published on our website and published for public comment in the Texas Register.聽I encourage each of you to review these rules and to take the time to make public comments.听听One easy way to find our proposed rules, and give us your feedback,聽is聽to聽head to our homepage. There, we have added comment period dates on the website, links to the proposed rules,聽and contact information for you to send your comments directly to us.听听

We,聽as a Commission,聽need to hear from the license holders to help ensure the agency is heading in the right direction.聽Please take some time to give us your feedback. We want to hear from you.听听

Last month,聽Executive聽Director, Chelsea聽Buchholtz聽and I met with聽a few聽local associations and their members to聽talk about the future of the agency.聽The sessions聽were聽hosted聽in coordination with聽MetroTex, Odessa,聽and the Houston Association of REALTORS.聽We聽talked about the agency鈥檚 response to COVID, renewal and application extensions, education changes, emerging business models, and potential changes to rules and law.听听

We are still planning a few more sessions, so if you have not yet attended,聽be sure to check the upcoming sessions on our website.听听

License Application and Renewal Extensions聽聽

We announced early in June that we聽have extended聽license applications and renewals through July 31.聽This means if your license needed to聽be renewed聽in March, April, May, June,聽or July,聽you will have until July 31 to complete all the requirements for your renewal. If you have a pending application for聽an聽initial license that would have expired any time from March 11 to July 31,聽you will also have until July 31 to complete your application requirements without penalty.听听

As of now, the agency does not plan to extend license renewals or applications beyond July 31. Please be sure to reach out to us if you need any assistance聽in聽getting your requirements completed. Our聽fantastic聽staff is ready to help.听听

Upcoming Meetings聽聽

We have a lot going on this month at the agency,聽and聽I want to encourage you all to take a moment to review our calendar. The newly appointed Broker Responsibility Working Group听(闯耻濒测听8),听ESAC (July 13), and 叠谤辞办别谤听尝补飞测别谤听颁辞尘尘颈迟迟别别 (July 17)聽will be meeting to name just a few upcoming meetings happening. These committees do聽essential聽work for the Commission,聽and if you want to effect change, give your thoughts, or share your expertise,聽these聽meetings are the best place to start.聽All of the upcoming meetings are on our agency calendar on our website.听听
