The agency will听close听early on Friday,听May听28,听and remain听closed through Memorial Day, May听31.听Because of this early closure, all license holders听who听need to renew a license should听complete all the requirements for renewal as soon as possible to avoid potential听delays.听You can find your renewal education information via the听license holder search听补苍诲听听on our website.听听

Welcome to New Commission Members听

Last month听we welcomed听three听new Commissioners听to 星空体育app下载.听Broker members, Leslie Lerner and Mark Woodroof, and public member Ben Pena hit the ground running at the May Commission meeting.听I welcome their valuable input and look forward to working with them.听You can read more about them in听our听announcement鈥�.鈥���

Commission Meeting Update听

For the first time听in over a year, the Commission meeting was held in person鈥痑t 星空体育app下载 headquarters. It was听a big step in the road back to 鈥渘ormal.鈥澨齌he Commission heard from听Gary听Maler and听Dr.听Jim Gaines听from the听听regarding the economic and real estate outlook. 听In听short,听as Dr. Gaines said,听"the housing market is on fire!鈥濃��听听Proposed rules considered and approved at this meeting are draft changes to the Inspectors鈥� Standards of Practice.听These proposed updates听were recommended by the Inspector Advisory Committee.听We have posted the听meeting video听补苍诲听proposed rules听on the website.听I encourage you to take a look at the proposed rules and provide public comments.听Keep in mind, we launched a听new online portal听earlier this year and it is now easier than ever to give us your thoughts.听

The next day the Commission held a workshop听focusing on enforcement.听During the workshop,听the听Commission had the opportunity to听gain听additional knowledge听about the听disciplinary听process.听听

Legislative Update听

The legislative session is headed into its final weeks. We听are鈥痺atching鈥痵everal bills that could potentially听impact听the agency.鈥疘鈥痥now many of you might be听interested in what is proposed, so I thought I would highlight a few bills of interest:鈥�鈥���

• 鈥�(Smith): Relating to the requirement that certain business entities obtain a license from the Texas Real Estate Commission鈥�鈥���

• 鈥�(Thompson): Relating to the Texas Real Estate Research Center and the Texas Real Estate Commission.鈥�鈥���

• (Deshotel)听Relating to the acquisition of real property by an entity with eminent domain authority.听

• (Turner)听-听Relating to the powers and duties听of property owners associations.听

• (Kuempel) Relating to the repeal of real estate inspection recovery fund听听

• (Kuempel):听听Relating to the licensing and regulation of real estate听inspectors; reducing a fee听听

One thing to remember is legislative session is fluid,听and none of these bills have听yet reached the听Governor's听desk.听听

Versa鈥疪eplacement鈥疨roject鈥���

Recently, our IT team听鈥痵tarted the process to replace the VERSA database system.听VERSA is the system of record we use for managing all of our license holder and registrant data.听 Our staff听interacts听with the database every day, in all听corners of our operation.听

We听are听working with鈥痑 vendor听to begin the requirements gathering and to establish a scope of work for the new system.鈥�听They听will also help us negotiate final pricing for this new database through a听solicitation听process this fall.鈥� Doing the upfront work to ensure the next database fulfills our needs is a top priority.鈥� This database replacement鈥痺ill allow us to advance and improve our services听for all of our license holders.鈥疻e hope to conclude this database project by the end of the fiscal year 2023.听
